Cooking Green Goodness: Herb Salad With Home Made Sumac Dressing

Change up your salad routine and make it all about flavourful fresh herbs topped with a tangy home made dressing. Herbs are the leafy part of any plant used for culinary or even medicinal purposes in general. So imagine the great things this herb salad will not only do for your taste buds but for your insides as well.

Mix together simple fresh herbs such as: basil; parsley; dill; tarragon; mint and coriander. Add thinly sliced radish.

To make the dressing, mix together:

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1½ tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sumac

Sumac also provides a distinct tangy flavour and is optional if you don’t have it. Add extra lemon juice as needed.

Assemble salad as desired in a large bowl. Add in nuts like almonds, pecans or walnuts as desired. Add dressing, toss and enjoy the amazing burst of flavours.

  1. You know what would be also great? Using your amazing recipe as a filling for hortopita (savory greens pie), adding feta and scallions! Thank you for the delicious idea, we’re drooling over the keyboard!:)
    Have an amazing week ahead!

    • You had me at feta! Love your cooking tips as always! I looked up “hortopita” and you are correct that this recipe would make a great filling. I LOVE spanakopita and what you’ve described reminds me of it, except it seems to have lots more mixed greens, herbs…right up my alley! Thanks you two. Wishing you an amazing week as well!
